About Porter Development

Porter Development is a family-owned commercial real estate company based in Clearwater, Florida. For more than two decades, we have focused on developing projects in our own backyard—investing in the long-term growth and vitality of the Tampa Bay region, with a special emphasis on Pinellas County. 

We specialize in identifying urban infill sites with strong potential for revitalization. Through thoughtful, community-minded development, we transform underutilized and blighted properties into projects that strengthen neighborhoods and create lasting value. Because of their size and complexity, many of these developments require extensive planning and collaboration, but we believe the long-term impact is well worth the effort.

In recent years, Porter Development has expanded its partnerships with local municipalities to help address large-scale community needs through real estate development. One of our most important initiatives focuses on affordable and workforce housing. We are currently redeveloping 29 acres of environmentally impacted property on the west side of St. Petersburg—land that has remained dormant for years due to groundwater contamination. While a long-term remediation process is underway, our team has received approvals to develop 1,058 multifamily units, 30% of which will be dedicated to workforce housing. This project is supported by Pinellas County’s Penny for Pinellas funding program, along with financial participation from the City of St. Petersburg.

We are also actively working with the City of Clearwater to help address the long-standing shortage of rectangular youth sports fields—an issue that has challenged the community for decades. Our proposed public-private partnership aims to provide a lasting solution by creating much-needed recreational space for a growing and changing population, while generating meaningful direct and indirect economic benefits for both the city and the county.
